window-glyph-icon_MkEOPaU_

The lower right hand side of the Windows 7 taskbar houses the notification area or system tray, as it is popularly known. There are several icons on this tray which often clutters it up. Some of these icons are required on a regular basis while others have sporadic usage. Many such old and unnecessary icons tend to populate the notification area. However, Microsoft introduced a method to do away or hide icons that are infrequently needed. The steps mentioned below will guide you through the process by which you can remove icons from the system tray and keep it clean.
Locate the small triangle pointing in the upward direction in the notification area and click on it. You can also use the keyboard shortcut of ‘Windows + B’ followed by ‘Enter’.

This will open a small window where you can find the ‘Customize’ button.
Click on the ‘Customize’ button which will display you another window consisting of the notification area items.
There would be a drop down menu adjacent to each of the items that will provide you three choices – ‘Show icons and notifications’, ‘Hide icons and notifications’ and ‘Only show notifications’.
Choose any of them as per your convenience and click ‘OK’ when you are done.
There is an alternative way of clearing the notification area icons. Bring up the ‘Search’ bar from ‘Start’ menu, type ‘notification’ and hit the ‘Enter key. A list will show up where you will require clicking on ‘Notification area icons’. You will be displayed another window from where you can directly choose the three options mentioned on step 4 above.
To clear all the icons off the notification area, click on ‘Turn system icons on or off’ in the dialog box. After selecting either ‘on’ or ‘off’, click ‘OK’ for the changes to take effect.

If you want to get back any of the system tray icons after turning off, you will need to click on ‘Restore default icon behaviors’ followed by ‘OK’.
Removal of Old Windows 7 Notification Area Icons
Sometimes an icon continues to remain in the notification after uninstallation of the particular software. If you want to remove an icon of an uninstalled program from the system tray, you will have to edit the Windows registry.
Users who are habituated with registry editing, can follow the steps mentioned below which will help in clearing the ‘tray icon cache’ which contains the icons.
Make sure to back up the registry before you begin the cleaning process.Open the Windows Registry Editor.Find the following registry key: HKCU Software Classes LocalSettings Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion TrayNotifyDelete the registry value IconStreams from the right pane of the Regedit command.Delete the PastIconsStream value as wellClose the registry and back it on for the updates to occur. Besides, stop and restart the Explorer.exe program if you know the procedure.

This process is for advanced users. In case you find it tedious, you may use third party utilities like CCleaner. It helps you get rid of tray icon cache and is tagged as ‘Tray Notification Cache’. Running the CCleaner requires you to log in as the administrator on most occasions.
Cleaning the notification area icons is often necessary especially when it becomes thronged with redundant icons. Icons tend to remain in the system tray for prolonged periods after being used regularly. This article is meant for keeping the notification area tidy retaining only those icons that are frequently needed. You may try cleaning the old icons from the Windows registry or using third party apps as discussed.

How To Watch PowerPoint On TV?

Microsoft is such a powerful tool for presentation, but sometimes we are limited by its requirement; you must have a computer with PowerPoint installed. Sometimes we want to send our presentation like photo presentation to friends or families and share with them, but on different operating system or different PowerPoint version , it doesn’t work very well, that’s really a disappoint thing. All things seem to be under Microsoft’s dominion; is there anything we can do? Why not watch your PowerPoint on TV? Sounds great! I believe many people have already done this interesting and useful thing, and I’m so glad to share experience with you about how to watch PowerPoint on TV.
Screenshots Tutorial
Free way
The free way is connect your TV to computer, then use computer control PowerPoint presentation, there is a vast difference between the technologies of a computer monitor and a TV monitor, you can connect your PC to TV, and watch your PowerPoint on TV screen, but this job is not that easy!
Unlike computer monitors TV monitors are interlaced which has the effect of making thin lines and text shimmer. TV monitors generally (apart from broadcast spec) don’t show the full image, so you may lose stuff at the edge of the screen (thus further reducing the amount of available resolution). Some graphics cards do compensate for this by squeezing the image into a window inside the video output – the only way you’ll know is to test it.
This method depends on the output from your video card…if you have component video out, you can use that kind of cable, if you have a s-video out from the card and s-video input on your TV you can use that, otherwise you would need a convert from Radio Shack to connect to the TV. As I know, some laptops come with an S-video port, and if your TV or VCR has an S-video input then just use an S-video cable. Otherwise you’ll need a cheap scalar/converter to take the VGA signal and turn it into a signal the TV/VCR can accept, most likely over a composite (RCA) or RF (like what your TV cable comes in on). In my opinion, this way cost a lot of time, and the result is not as we expect!
Watch PowerPoint on TV via Apple TV
We know that Apple Company created such a great product, Apple TV automatically grabs the digital media on your computer and makes it available for you to enjoy on your TV. Best of all, whenever you add something new in iTunes, Apple TV updates automatically. So what we should do if we want to watch PowerPoint on TV via Apple TV:
The first step is convert PowerPoint to certain Video formats Like MPEG-4 that can be accept by iTunes. You can learn more from another article: How to convert PowerPoint to MPEG?
The second step is upload video to iTunes and sync to Apple TV, and then you can enjoy your PowerPoint Presentation on your widescreen TV.
The question is Apple TV is too expensive, and the process is also troublesome. Maybe it’s good for enjoying videos (from YouTube), but for PowerPoint presentation, I don’t think it’s the best solution.
Watch PowerPoint on TV with DVD player
That’s what we suggest, burn your PowerPoint to DVD and then watch them on TV with a DVD remote controller, so you must make sure the software have the function of customized DVD menus, and the burning process should be stable. DVD player is cheap, and when you burn PowerPoint to DVD, it’s good for distribution, you can send them to your friends without worry about if they have PC or PowerPoint installed, and you also don’t care about the version and operation system; Another good benefits is that you can protect your PowerPoint from un authorizing edit, you can view the article Advantages of Burning PowerPoint to DVD to know more about it.
Ok, let’s use Acoolsoft PPT2DVD to take a tour and see how to Burn PowerPoint to DVD
Start the Program and import files (Acoolsoft PPT2DVD support Batch Converting)
You must clear that this Program is going step by step, you just need to clik next and make sure everything is what you want, if not, then set it , we give you the power to change it !
Clike next and then you can do with Menu settings, that’s really depend on your creativity!
Is everything under your control?
Yes, you sure everything is OK, just click next and leave the rest to Acoolsoft PPT2DVD, all things will be done!

How to Optimize Your Windows XP Computer to Make it Faster for Free

We all hate when our computers takes forever to boot up or load a program. In this article I will describe some very useful tricks to tweak the Windows XP OS so it runs faster. First, make sure your computer does not have unnecessary programs running. For example, every time you install new software (ex. Skype, iTunes, etc), by default it places itself in the start-up menu. Every time you boot into system you will see the program running (An icon sitting on the Taskbar, next to time); that means, even though you are not using the program, the program is running and taking up your computer resources. We have to configure the start up menu so only the necessary programs run. To do this, you click Start/Run/ and type”msconfig”. This will bring up a new window (System Co nfiguration Utility) with 6 Tabs on the top.
Click on the “Startup” tab to display the start-up programs. Uncheck all the unnecessary programs so they stop running when the computer starts. Remember this does not mean we are deleting/blocking the program, we are just disabling so Windows XP does not have load it. If you want to open the program just click the Program’s Icon. Personally, I always disable every program but the Antivirus.
Once we have disabled the unnecessary programs, I will proceed with what a call illusion trick. If you have not noticed Windows XP loads several visual effects that make interface looks nicer. All this effects (shadows, transitions, previews, thumbnails) take up memory and CPU power from your computers, affecting the performance. In order to optimize the computer/laptop we will disable all this unnecessary visual effects. Click on Start/Control Panel/System/Advanced this will display a list of Visual Effects. Check the option that says “Adjust for best performance” and click apply.
Another cool trick is to change the Start Menu time to display which is called “Menu Show Delay”. To do this you will click on Start/run and then type “Regedit”. This will take you the Windows Registry. Be extremely careful when making changes in the Registry. This is the backbone of Windows, so any change will affect dramatically the windows run. From the Registry Editor, navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop. Here you will look for “MenuShowDelay”. By default this setting is set at 400, change this to 200. They change will be automatically saves, just close and restart the PC.
Lastly, there is another setting within the Windows Registry that affects the amount of time that Windows take to load. It is called Windows XP Prefetcher. In the registry go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Control / Session Manager / Memory Management / PrefetchPara meters and change the value from 3.1 to 5 ( Recommended). They change will be automatically saves, just close and restart the PC.
Applying these four tweaks will increase your system performance by at least 50%. I have been in the business of computer repair Broward for more than 10 years and I have always gotten positive results applying this tricks. The great side is that you can achieve a higher performance without investing any money on increasing Memory Ram or upgrading the CPU. It is completely free and very easy to do. The results are instantly! Next time you are buying a new laptop/Desktop PC or Laptop repair Fort Lauderdale at the store; do not pay a Geek to optimize your PC. You can now do it yourself.

How to Fix Brother Printer Problems, Improve Speed and Efficiency

Here’s how to fix Brother Printer problems with step-by-step resolution for printer configuration errors, slow print speed, spooler errors, and printer driver issues. Read on to find out how to improve the speed and performance of your Brother Printer while also reduce ink usage and minimize the risk of failure to print.
Here’s how you can troubleshoot the biggest Brother Printer problems.
Slow printing or spooler error: The two are not completely unrelated. The spooler software is the printer’s memory which stores documents temporarily in the hard disk before print. You can change the Print Spooler properties for automatic Startup type. This makes sure that rebooting the system refreshes spooler memory without having to manually enable it. This is how you can do it on Windows:
Start > Control Panel > System & Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Services > ââ,¬Ëœright-click’ Print Spooler > Properties > Start-up Type > ââ,¬Ëœselect’ Automatic
You may need to turn “Service Status” to “Start” if the service is not already running. Also reduce print quality for everyday usage. This will improve print speed and reduce ink usage. Change default print quality from the “Properties” tab on your printer device. If printer speed shows no improvement, then it might be a good idea for you to get tech support for Brother Printer.
Wireless Brother Printer Slow: It’s hard to get the kind of performance you would expect out of Ethernet connected 100 mbps connection from a wireless printer. Configuring the proxy over multiple computers makes this inconvenient on a dynamic server as every time the Router is reset, the IP changes and the device has to be reconfigured. As most home-offices or home users would use such a connection, it is preferable to configure the printer or multifunction device on a single computer which is accessible in a Shared Home Group. Get Brother Printer support to enable device sharing.
Print Sent to the Wrong Printer: This often happens when you upgrade Windows or install Service Packs. It means that default hardware settings have gone back to factory settings or you need a driver update to go with the OS update. The Microsoft website gives you links to download drivers for specific system requirements and you can find something similar for Mac OS. It’s also a good idea to reset default printer from the Control Panel and while you’re doing this, make sure that you select the right device.
For setup and installation of Brother Printer, online technical support is a good option. These guys will make sure the job gets done right and you can always call them back if your printer decides to kick up a fuss. That might still happen with the printer tray, cartridge or toner. Here is where some research into the printer you are about to buy really helps. A lot of forums would have product reviews and that should give you a good idea of what to expect from your printer purchase. Remember that no printer is free of problems, no matter how expensive. Such generic issues can be dealt independently of the brand or cost of your printer. Third party Brother Printer technical support is an online solution to such device specific issues.
